Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented person to fulfill an essential role in our busy finance team. As a Finance Assistant responsible for payroll, you will work closely with colleagues – especially the People Team – to ensure the management of all payroll and pensions activity.
You will ensure that the monthly payroll is processed in an accurate and timely manner. You will have excellent attention to detail, good numeracy skills and be comfortable dealing with a range of stakeholders.

Job Role:

As a Finance Assistant responsible for payroll, you will work closely with colleagues – especially the People Team – to ensure the management of all payroll and pensions activity.
You will ensure that the monthly payroll is processed in an accurate and timely manner. You will have excellent attention to detail, good numeracy skills and be comfortable dealing with a range of stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Process the monthly payroll for United Welsh and its subsidiaries which includes submitting all statutory HMRC returns, pension submissions and year end processing
  • Ensure that payroll processes comply with relevant laws and regulations
  • Processing CIS returns and submitting to HMRC
  • The processing of staff expenses including reconciliation of the Expenses Ledger and the administration of expenses software
  • Responsible for the Sales Ledger, including raising invoices, chasing outstanding debt and preparing the monthly closedown
  • Complete balance sheet control account reconciliations including posting journals and making corrections when necessary
  • Assist the Financial Reporting Manager in the preparation of statutory disclosure notes for the financial statements and data provision for the annual salary budget process Provide cover for the Cashbook function and support the wider team when necessary
  • Work on own initiative to prioritise workload in order to meet deadlines
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and automation to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Build and proactively manage collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, dealing with enquiries and producing suitable information tailored to their needs
