We are searching for talented people to join our Board.
Whether you already have experience as a Board Member or not, one thing is key – that you are passionate about helping create a better world and are committed to our mission of ‘Making Lives Better’ for the people of Wales.
We celebrate equality diversity and inclusion and believe our Board and Committees should represent the communities that we serve, through members with a diversity of backgrounds and lived experiences.
We equally encourage applications from those with experience in our sector and those who come from outside it. In line with our support for the Tai Pawb “Deeds not Words” pledge we will be offering a guaranteed interview to applicants from under-represented groups who meet the essential criteria and to those who have completed the Pathway to Board development scheme.
What you’ll do
As a Board Member you will ensure we are well run and deliver socially beneficial outcomes for our customers, communities and colleagues.
You will bring a fresh perspective to discussions and shape decisions that are made.
You will learn about the services we provide, and the challenges faced by those we support. You will ensure the proper governance of our organisation so we can continue to make a difference to our communities in the years ahead.
As a Board Member you will also sit on one of our committees. We are currently looking for someone to sit on our Finance, Risk and Audit Committee (FRAC) and one other committee.
Further details on these roles can be found in the recruitment pack and the attached FRAC Committee terms of reference.
What you’ll need
You will need motivation and up to 2 days per month to carry out your duties. In return this role can be hugely rewarding and a great opportunity to learn and develop.
You will have an interest in housing, care and support and the challenges and opportunities faced in these sectors and believe strongly in making lives better for our customers, communities and colleagues.
Whilst previous experience as a Board Member would be beneficial, it isn’t necessary. We provide a tailored induction to help you become confident in your new role addressing areas that may be new to you.
We are looking to strengthen the skills, knowledge and experience of our Board in the areas of Social Care, Finance or Housing but if your expertise falls outside these areas and you believe you have something you can bring, we would love to hear from you.
- Remuneration of £8,000 per annum
- Tailored training and induction programme
- Opportunity to ‘give back’ in a socially beneficial organisation
- Reasonable expenses in line with policy
- Learn from other Board Members
- Enhance your knowledge, skills and experience
- Attend conferences and events
- Be part of/Chair specialist committees
- Lead a change in Housing, Care and Support services across South Wales
