Summary:

We are looking for a Group Compliance, Health and Safety Manager. This is an excellent opportunity to lead on all areas of health and safety across the Group – including our two subsidiaries. This is more than landlord compliance, although this will be a significant part of the role.

About Us:

Cynon Taf Community Housing Group is in the heart of Rhondda Cynon Taf in glorious South Wales.  We’re proud of our communities and our deep-rooted history in providing homes and support to the people who live in them.

We currently provide around 2000 homes for rent, including 4 housing schemes for older people, two women’s refuges, and several supported housing projects delivered in partnership with other agencies. Our hugely respected Cwm Taf Care and Repair subsidiary provides services for older or disabled people living in privately-owned homes across Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil.

A recent addition to the Group is Down to Zero, a subsidiary focusing on mitigating climate impact, tracking the Group’s carbon footprint, and offering training, volunteering and direct benefits back to our tenants and wider community.

Above all though, we are a people-based organisation. Our values guide our thinking and decision making, and we like to work collaboratively.  We are passionate about being a good employer and a respected partner in our region and across Wales.

Job Role:

This is an excellent opportunity to lead on all areas of health and safety across the Group – including our two subsidiaries. This is more than landlord compliance, although this will be a significant part of the role.  We are looking for someone to be our competent person, but also an advisor and support on employee related matters, including training, safe working practices and wellbeing. This role has a direct line to the Chief Executive on risk management across the Group and you will need excellent reporting and analytical skills. We are looking for someone who:

  • Can effectively manage a dispersed and multi-faceted team in a small community organisation
  • Has key leadership attributes such as – coaching, supporting, driving a positive and can do culture, always curious and not comfortable with being “good enough”
  • Is able to manage risk, and drive a safety first culture
  • Can be an effective member of our operational management team
  • Can hold people to account, drive performance, with attention to the detail
  • Is a confident influencer

We know that you might not have all the skills covered in the job specification and we don’t expect you to have them all.  We will provide opportunities for you to develop and to learn from a consultant who is working with us on exciting retrofitting projects.

We value diversity in all its facets, including sex, disability, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender identity. When it comes to finding a diverse balance for our senior positions, we have decided to specifically address race equality. Candidates from ethnic minority backgrounds who fulfil the essential role criteria will be guaranteed an interview. We are also committed to the Disability Confident Scheme. If you have a disability, you will be guaranteed an interview if you meet the essential role criteria.
